MAH works with a wide range of materials to produce bespoke machined and turned parts for all industries and applications.
We offer an advisory service as to which material offers the best suitability for your CNC machining needs.
We work with a wide variety of materials, those including:
Aluminium Machining
A material we at MAH work a lot with; aluminium such as 6082 is a popular material for machining components across all industries, being a lightweight, soft and highly malleable material with excellent machining capabilities. Aluminium further offers corrosion-resistance, has good tensile strength and low density, and is recyclable. Applications for aluminium span from architecture to ships for the marine industry.
Mild Steel Machining
Mild steels are a low carbon steel, containing carbon in the range of 0.05-0.25%. These are highly machinable with good weldability, boasting high tensile strength. Mild steel is also a magnetic metal. Mild steels are used for a variety of applications including machinery (suitable for cutting and coating methods) and architecture (used as a structural steel for construction and fencing). Some of the common mild steels we work with at MAH are EN1A, EN3B, EN8, EN24 and EN36.
Stainless Steel Machining
Stainless steel is often chosen for its corrosion resistance and physical appearance. Stainless steel has high tensile strength, and is durable with high and low temperature resistance, as well as being recyclable. Stainless steel is often used for components in the automotive industry, oil and gas applications and for marine application, creating parts such as exhaust systems, oil and gas fittings and consumer goods. Some of the common stainless steels we work with at MAH are AISI303, AISI304 and AISI316.
Brass CNC Machining
An alloy made primarily of copper and zinc, brass is a particularly soft and malleable material, easily machined, and offers high levels of corrosion and chemical resistance and a great conduction of heat. Brass has a low melting point, and is a low friction material, excelling in applications such as Naval applications, gears, and fittings, like fasteners and connectors. Some of the common Brass grades we work with at MAH are CW614N (CZ121), CW317N, CW602N, CW606N and C46400 Naval Brass.
Copper Machining
A great conductor of heat and electricity, copper is also soft, malleable and ductile, making it an easily machinable material. It has good corrosion resistance, producing a protective sulphate on its surface known as patina. Copper has a range of applications, from the electrical industry, creating busbars, to automotive, such as car radiators, and construction - often used in plumbing systems. Some of the common copper we work with at MAH are CW004A(C101), CW0008A and CW118C.
Plastic Machining
A lightweight material with good machinability and with corrosion and chemical resistance depending on the type of plastic. Applications for plastic range across different industry components which are made from plastics such as Nylon 6, Nylon 6.6, Acetal, HDPE, Peek, PE500, and Tecaform AD.
